Healing remedies and techniques have existed as long as there have been humans who need them, and through the centuries many have come and gone. As technology and research progressed, we’ve been able to study some aspects of what makes these ancient modalities effective (though admittedly many of their secrets remain just that–secret). Reiki is one of those techniques that, although relatively new, combines the essence of ancient, energetic healing practices.

Developed by Mikao Usui in the early 1900s, Reiki comes from the Japanese words rei, meaning “universal,” and ki, meaning the “vital life force energy that flows through all living things.” Used widely in healthcare and hospital settings today, Reiki is a modality that involves gentle touch by the practitioner in order to allow healing energy to flow from the hands into the one receiving it, facilitating balance, ease, and calm in the mind, body, emotions, psyche, and spirit.

At CSC, we utilize Reiki as an individual offering for clients experiencing chronic pain, auto-immune diseases, cancer, depression, stress-related issues, and much more. We also utilize this technique in our Reiki & Sound community group, as Gillian rotates through each participant to offer this healing while Brenton plays crystal singing bowls. This powerful combination incorporates the effective practices of Reiki with the far more ancient Tibetan tools for healing (sound).

If you’ve ever been curious about receiving hands-on healing like Reiki but want to tip-toe into the experience, we suggest checking out Reiki & Sound on Thursdays. And when you’re ready for the full healing experience, you can book a Reiki session here.
